In the context of the European Commissions´ project “Rapid and efficient enforcement of outstanding claims by SMEs operating across borders” a seminar on the issue of cross-border credit and claims management within the EU took place on the 17th of October 2013 in Warsaw, Poland.

The goal of this European wide series of events is to make business conducted abroad and recovering cross-borders payments easier for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME).

There have been various lectures about this topic, as the one in Berlin, which did not only imply effective debtor management solutions, but especially demanded how to deal with cross-border claims. Attorney at law Sylwester Minartowicz of PASCHEN showed how to realize outstanding claims procedures and which practices are employed in EU courts. In addition to out of court and legal enforcements he also explained the existing possibilities through enforcement of judgments and insolvency proceedings within German and European law.

Concluding there can be said, that the interesting lectures showed Polish SME different options of recovering cross-border payments. So in the future they will be able to increase their efficiency and competiveness in pan-Europe.

This seminar was organized within the project “Rapid and efficient enforcement of outstanding claims by SMEs operating across borders” funded by the European Union for the EU domestic market. It is part of a series of national events whose purpose is to help SMEs with cross-border business within the EU.
